Is a mortuary temple located in Upper Egypt. It is located under the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, on the west bank of the Nile, near the Valley of the Kings. It is dedicated to the worship of the God Amun and was built for the first female pharaoh who reigned for a long period of time: Queen Hatshepsut, of the 18th dynasty, of the New Kingdom, year 1458 BC. Daughter of Tuthmosis I. It is a temple with architectural characteristics, which significantly differentiates it from the rest of the temples. The royal architect Senenmut, supervised the construction of it. It is excavated in the rock, and has an outdoor area that has three terraces, connected by ramps. The relief sculpture inside the temple tells the story of the divine birth of this pharaoh woman. Statues and ornamentation have mostly been stolen or destroyed. The first Christians damaged the temple, wanting to turn it into a monastery.
